Chain of Command: Chapters 20 & 21

NOTES: Well. It looks like I got your attention yesterday. That's good. You're getting caught up in this just like me. It really is amazing how a story starts to creep into reality. You start thinking "Did this really happen?" or "What if this really happened?" That's when I know I'm doing something right.

I realized over the weekend that there's been a funny byproduct that has somehow come into being over the months of our Novels Live experience. Instead of working up to occasional surprises as I type in a hole all by myself, Novels Live has pushed me to give you surprises as often as possible. It wasn't intentional. It just kinda happened. But I really think it works. We're creating stories without much lag. Boring stories stink. Sure you may not know the final verdict, but at least it keeps you turning the pages. I could not have done this without your input. I cannot tell you how important it is when I get your feedback, good and bad. It forces me out of my comfort zone, pushed me to write a more compelling story. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

SIDE NOTE: Just a little bragging for the Novels Live team. Disavowed cracked into the Top 100 on Amazon last night. It's a HUGE first for the Corps Justice team. Our work is paying off!

I'm starting to hope that Whitworth is gonna get his ass kicked! I'm already disgusted with him AND Mason. Prison's way too good for 'em!

First, congratulations on Disavowed! It is a memorable book. I will never forget the Andy and Rich scene walking Wyatt Earp style shooting up the enemy. It was great!
Second, Mr. Cooper, we are sitting on the proverbial edge of our seats, probably gritting our teeth with these last 4 chapters. This is a GREAT novel.

First things first: I'm getting really cranked up by the level of deception and vile behavior from these so-called military leaders.

That they both work, or worked, for that ... person who engineered the death of so many Marines, is just another example of a lack of Honor.

Mix in the low-life Congressman, and you have a real cabal of treason inside the Government.

Well done, Carlos!

And yes, I've got a bunch of nits to pick later on ...

But you've got me really pi$$ed now.

I agree with everything G. Younger said and could not say it better. One word comes to mind.. Brilliant.

For once, I'm speechless! Okay, not really, but holy Moses, Carlos! What a bunch of <insert colorful expletive> bastards! The head stinker Whitworth, to Gower who orchestrated the unprovoked attack, and the slimy congressmen Steiner and McKnight, these men sold their souls for wealth and power. They deserve public humiliation and a swift and brutal end. Start the bonfires, Carlos...we're gonna have a weenie roast!

Oops! I meant Mason, not Gower. Gower will probably be feeling the fishes soon.

What's really sad is that we already have people in Congress, for whom any talk of the military is only for their own benefit, whether they want to shrink it or fund it.

They are so without honor and ethics, and have no moral compass, its easy to see how you can find amalgams of characters, already seated, from which to base your characters.

Yeah, I'm still cranked up by these two chapters. But not so much that I cannot tell you how brilliant your writing is!

Semper,
-a.

And I thought I was frustrated with the two chapters from yesterday. These have me clenching my jaw. I sure hope the next chapter has some sort of resolution to a couple of these things and shows the good guys getting back on top again. If we have a couple more chapters like the last four, I won't have any hair left on my head.

Now for my aside....when I read your notes before jumping full bore into the chapters I was thrilled to see Disavowed broke the top 100!! I just had to give a fist pump and a YES!! My granddaughter thinks this is just another example of how Nana has lost it.

Dishonorable men with piss poor morals....they hate Marines and the Corps because they could never achieve the right to be MARINES...no honor, no courage, no ethical value whatsoever, not 1 single redeeming quality between them from the arms contractor, the general, the admiral, to the congressman.

You got me plotting an attack on fictional people Carlos...and wondering who is going to get the Intel on these scum so Cal and team can take it to them.

Great chapters...wild ride.

Congrats on Diavowed!!!

Conrat's on Disavowed, it is a great read.
These chapters are amazing and talk about page turners. I can't wait to see how Cal and Co. are going to deal with Whitworth and the low-life congressman, I know how I would like to, oh that's right it's a story, that really pulls you in. Great writing, what a talent you have!

Congrats on "Disavowed"! Way to go. These chapters are really intense and set the bar high for what is coming next. Cal and TJG are going to have to move quickly and get Whitworth and Mason before more Marines get killed. Steiner will bring about his own demise.

Carlos you really know how to get us emotionally drawn into this book (even if it is pissed off). Another great set of chapters. Interested to see how they claim Gower was killed and by whom. Can't wait to see them get the justice they so richly deserve!

McKnight.
Early on we saw him as being one of the prime antagonists and it seemed he may have been the one to start this whole show for his own political (presidential) ends (or have I read so many of your books that I'm confusing something from another book with this one?). Now we are redirected to low life contractors, sleazy flag officers, scum bag mercenaries, but nothing pointing back to the back stabbing Senator McKnight.

Earlier I was sure he was the prime mover and shaker in this plan so that he could come to the rescue and assure his opportunity to be president. Now I'm not so sure. Is he just one more puppet being controlled by the contractor, is he a equal partner of the contractor, or is he just a distraction so we won't figure it out?

I don't want this book to end but I do want to know how all the pieces fit to make up this unholy pile of camel dung.
