NOTES: Thanks for going along for the ride yesterday. I really felt like it was something that needed to happen, and it just kind of spilled out the way it did. Like Don said, maybe it had something to do with my trip last week :) As for today's installment, the speech will need some work later, but I wanted to get it all out of my head so I can revisit it after draft one is done. Let me know what you think... Content Removed For Publishing

love the confrontation and the plan to attack from the rear. i think the speech is calmly daring, not a lot to change.

I really appreciate how Congressman McKnight is over confident. I'm sure he will start to make mistakes. That Cal's team will begin to ferret him and his cronies out. I keep thinking with each chapter I want more.

Great chapter. While you might want to tweak the speech, it's awesome the way it is.

Great chater and I like the General's speech. I like that he is being proactive and bringing the fight to him on his terms which we don't see much today. I'm looking forward to seeing how you put it all together and the fight is not just about the General and the Marines but also about Zimmer. Keep it coming, the books just keep getting better.

Just had a thought. Would the Marine Corp Commandant, on such a solemn occasion, end the speech with "Semper Fidelis" or less formally "Semper Fi"?

Or maybe even an "OOOH-RAAH"!

The speech is one I could imagine any of the top MARINE generals giving, one under the circumstances I would expect to here from the Commandant. It just fit and as a Marine is believable...no MARINE I have ever known has had an over abundance of patience, especially when under attack. And yes that comment resembles my personality. :-)

Well played. Very good chapter. I think the General's speech is good as is. Now Cal has the way to get the likes of Congressman McKight. I agree about the end of the speech having the General say "Semper Fi"

Your anniversary and time off really got you rolling, great chapter. And now you have built the stage for a showdown between the Congressmen and Cal, with the blessing of the Commandant and President Zimmer, I can't wait for more!

Good chapter and I like the speech the way it is, but do agree with a "Semper Fi" at the end since he specifically addresses fellow Marines.

I strongly agree with Don Hoffman's comments on the previous chapter, and I like the tone and direction of this chapter. The closing conversation between Cal and General Winfield was great.
