Picture

Had a travel day today, but I wrote a chapter as I flew in to Washington, D.C. I'll publish that tomorrow.

Since you're fiends, I wanted to share the picture I took flying by The Pentagon. Sobering on a day like today.

Thank you all for this wonderful ongoing journey.

Never forget...

We lived at Quantico and in Woodbridge. Gary drove in to Washington, D.C. daily. We spent our weekends in Georgetown. After 9/11 I think of it differently. All those amazing Americans and others who were working, flying, or watching had their lives changed forever. God bless America and all the brave people involved in keeping us safe!

Hopefully we'll never forget what happened on this day 13 years ago. I pray that there are real life Cal's, Daniel's. Trent's, etc. out there watching out for us. And thank you C.G. for your writing! I wish you could put out a book every week!!

Semper Fi, we shall never bow, as our president has, to these murderers.

David rest assured there are definitely real life Cal's, Daniels, Trent's and Gunny's watching over all Americans. They proudly wear Desert Cammies, carry all kinds of weapons and volunteered to serve in every branch of the military. Just as Cal did after 9-1-1.

Thank you Mr. Cooper for sharing a beautiful picture on a special day. Thank you all who defend this country and for all the future ones to come. May they have wise council and know why it is important to defend this great country we live in and carry on what many of us have worked so hard to achieve. God Bless America.

I agree with David and was happy to read Wanda's comment. Great pic, Carlos. What a memorable day. Listening to Obama and talking heads last night was really quite sad. Reading your Chapters and listening to the news on Fox and CNN is so surreal. Now I see ISIS is estimated at 30,000 plus instead of 10,000 last week? Does anyone know what's going on in our government?!

You asked for this, Carlos: I'd rather be a friend than a fiend ;-D
Thank you for the awesome picture.

I asked my son this morning what he remembers about 9/11/2001. He said, "I remember being in the shower and you hollering about a terrorist attack. That was right after you turned on the tv and the first plane had just hit the tower." He was 16 when that happened.
Today has been full of memories of time in service, the Cold War (yes, I was told to hide under my desk at school - you DON'T want to know how the teachers responded when you told them that was pointless), and the wonderful way Americans have of pulling together when the chips fall or fly. May each of our veterans, our active duty and those who love this country be blessed, I think we're going to need it.

Oh, today was also Freedom Day (the 2nd Thursday in September). A number of civic minded business owners donate a day to do things for Veterans. If I'd know sooner, I'd have passed it on. We know a dentist who only saw Veterans today, at no charge, and all his staff were involved and so happy to help. They gave exams, cleanings and one urgent care fix if appropriate. There were also free car washes and such. There are people trying to make this better known, so if you are inclined, please check it out and pass the word. Maybe we can reach a tipping point and get more service providers as well as veterans appreciating their services.
Blessings all!

Last time I was at the Pentagon was May 2002. I rode up to DC from SW Florida to ride in "Rolling Thunder" on Memorial Day weekend. We gathered in the north parking lot, tens of thousands of bikers from all over the country; all there to ride for those who can no longer ride themselves. A true remembrance event. They were still working on the repairs on the Pentagon and it was extremely sobering to know why we were there and what had happened to this country about nine months earlier.

I was stationed at the Pentagon at one time in my military career and used the entrance where the plane hit. But for the Grace of God and a few years, I could have been there on that day. Prayers go out to all those affected by that tragedy and God Bless all who are serving and who have served and a special Welcome Home to all my Vietnam Veteran Brothers and Sisters.

After reading the above comments, what's left to say, except thank God for keeping us safe, and saying a prayer for those who were lost.
